Will Gregory has a plan to address congressional compensation

Will Gregory, a Republican running for Congress from the 4th District, is pitching an intriguing plan to overhaul congressional pay.

The Gregory Congressional Reform Plan has three main components:

1. Members of Congress will no longer have the ability to raise their own pay; instead, raises will be either 2 percent or the annual rate of inflation, whichever figure is lower.

2. Members will no longer receive salaries or pensions upon leaving Congress, however they will be free to invest in private retirement accounts or savings plans

3. Members will participate in the same social security and health care plans available to other Americans (U.S. Representatives and Senators are currently eligible for the same health insurance benefits all federal employees receive, in addition to a host of extras available only to lawmakers,)
